Kevin has announced that he’ll be stepping down from hosting 2019 Oscars award, he stated in a tweet he made that his reason was because he wouldn’t want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. He also sincerely apologized to the LGBTQ community for his insensitive words from his past.
Kevin who was given an ultimatum by the Academy to either apologize or step down as the 2019 Oscar host for the homophobic tweets he made against the LGBTQ Community in the year 2009/2010, passed on the apology stating that he’s spoken on it several times, in his words he’d said “I’m not going to continue to go back and tap into the days of old, I’ve moved on and I’m in a completely different space in my life, we feed internet trolls and we award them, I’m not going to do it, I’m going to be me, and I’m going to stand my ground”.
